A bill introducing amendment to the National Minimum Wage Act, 2019, has been passed by the Senate.
The amendment bill introduces N70, 000 as the new minimum wage, as against N30, 000.
The new bill also includes provision of three years for the review of the National Minimum Wage every three years from the existing five years.
The executive bill, was given swift attention by both houses of the National Assembly, on Tuesday, after its transmission from President Bola Tinubu.
The bill, which was presented by the Senate Leader, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, scaled through the scaled through first, second and third readings in the Senate.
In the House of Representatives, the Majority Leader, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, led the charge on the floor of the Green Chamber.
